This is a detailed old Victorian Ordnance Survey 6 inch to 1 mile Old Map (1888-1913) of Goole, Old Goole, Airmyn and Hook. Map Centre Decimal Latitude/Longitude (WGS84): 53.689217, -0.880 902
The map was meticulously 'hand-stitched' from 64 individual images aligning each one perfectly in order to create a single, seamless image. The original images are scans of a physical document which meant all the creases, folds and damage had to also be removed and the missing information (gaps in the map) digitally recreated from existing detail. Finally the finished map was digitally enhanced to give the best possible clarity and the background replaced with an ultra high-resolution paper texture with a subtle vignette to give the map the appearance of a slightly aged, single physical document.
The map is designed to be printed at size A1 (594mm x 841mm / 23.4" x 33.1") and the project took around 20 hours to complete.
